The Truth About the Documentary “What the Health”

Everything Levels Up In Season Two – Starting Now.

In this Pre-Season Episode of the Road To Ripped Podcast, Chris and I wanted to share our insights on the “What The Health” Documentary…

Here’s what we are going to cover:

  • 0:00 – Introduction
  • 1:00 – The First Red Flags
  • 13:29 – A Huge Calorie Surplus Is The Problem
  • 20:15 – Food Quality
  • 40:15 – Cause & Correlation
  • 54:35 – Closing Thoughts

After we watched the documentary, the main thing we need to address is that correlation does not equal causation.

There were some main points that we actually did agree on, but in the rest of the claims, there were major gaps missing.

The Calorie Surplus

What the video failed to talk about is most of the people being interviewed suffering from disease and other health issues were overweight.

Being overweight and obese is already going to put anyone at higher risk of health problems down the road.

The quality and types of food play a major role here as well, but let’s not forget about energy in vs. energy out.

If you’re eating too many calories each day (more than your body burns off) then you’re going to start putting on excess body fat.

Dietary fat, carbs, sugar, or any food in particular isn’t responsible for weight gain – too much of anything is.

Food Quality

Along with making sure you’re not overeating, food quality is really important.

As a good rule of thumb, make sure the majority of your daily food intake includes whole foods made of quality ingredients.

To make this simple, try your best to avoid these ingredients that most likely are linked to disease and many health issues:

  • All Processed Foods
  • Canola Oil
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Corn Oil
  • Seed Oil
  • Soy Lecithin
  • Fortified Iron
  • Soy
  • Carrageenan
  • Gum additives
  • Artificial Sweeteners

Final Thoughts

We hope you enjoyed this long and in-depth video…

If you disagree with any aspect of the video. Please, share your argument. I challenge you to find anything Chris or I said, that you disagree with and why.

The fact of the matter is, the documentary doesn’t support the body of research today. As well, it fails to address the biggest predictor of heart disease and diabetes – being largely over weight and over consuming calories.
